Host a Year on Mission Team

Transform a Community

Ministry can be hard, especially for the leaders who put so much time and effort into making disciples, many times not seeing the fruit of their labors develop. Along with all the demands of ministry, goals may slip through the cracks. But there is help to further your discipleship goals, you needn’t do it alone.

Being a church, a group of churches or an organization that hosts a TENTMAKERS Year on Mission team provides the opportunity to impact your community through a disciple making ministry that pays dividends in the life of the church and community through the lives of young people. The needs of each community are different and the TENTMAKERS Year on Mission teams have been trained to adjust to changing circumstances while keeping their focus clear - making disciples.

Though each situation is different a host could expect the following:

  • A relational discipleship ministry to high school students and young adults for twelve months each year.

  • The ministry team consists of four young adults, who have completed the TENTMAKERS 40-day Leadership Training. They will each serve as tentmakers, working in the community approximately 20 hrs/week and serving in the disciple-making ministry at least 20 hours/week; this means approximately 80 hours/week for the team in disciple-making ministry time. They work as a team to:

    • Provide outreach by building relationships with students and young adults to church members and non-members.

    • Establish fellowship opportunities for students and young adults through regular gatherings to worship and make friends.

    • Provide faith-nurture through small groups and lead one-on-one and small group discipleship training.

    • Provide powerful leadership training.

    • Involve congregational members in these activities.

  • A TENTMAKERS trainer/coach will manage their ministry by providing continued training, education, coaching and supervision. The trainer/coach will develop plans to work within the partner church’s mission and be approved by the partner church leadership team.

  • TENTMAKERS provides the opportunity for on-going continuity and growth by reserving a new group of four tentmakers each year after.

  • An excellent value equation.

To perpetuate strong discipleship and leadership in the church(es) the team will promote participation in TENTMAKERS Leadership Quest for high school youth and TENTMAKERS Year on Mission for young adults.

Host a TENTMAKERS Experience

Equip Your People

Why don’t more people get involved?

Evidence shows that most people that attend church regularly tend to focus their time on those they know and relate well with but struggle to reach out to visitors, new people or the community. This places more burden on the leadership of the church when Scripture clearly calls all of us to be involved. Church members tend to have a lot of knowledge base but tend to fade in the areas of confidence and skills in applying that knowledge. But there is help.

TENTMAKERS offers training experiences for your people to grow in the skills, confidence and courage to step into and engage with others and follow where the Lord is guiding them to step into ministry and outreach. TENTMAKERS can also offer follow up plans for maximizing the effectiveness of the training after the experience.

Weekend Experiences:

  • Bridge Builders - the ultimate course training on relational ministry. It is fun, encouraging and active and will leave you refreshed, encouraged and motivated to impact the lives of others for Jesus Christ.

  • Educators on Mission - designed specifically for Christians working in the public schools, this experience builds skills, confidence and direction for educators to begin the process of transforming our schools with God’s love and truth.
